Talking Organizational Structures
Let’s get crazy and take a minute to talk about the fun subject of organizational structure. Oh yeah, it’s got to be one of everybody’s favorite conversations to chat it up. Hang with me just a little bit and you will see the meaning to this madness… well, you will actually have to wait until this winter to have it all make sense. Today we are just introducing the idea.
There are three crucial components every organized group of people have in place that either help them achieve what they hope to do in this life or actually fight against what they want to accomplish. They are important, extremely important, and they are rarely ever talked about directly. At least this is true in the general populace of a group.
Here they are; every organization (big or small) has …
a paradigm (red circle) upon which they build. It’s the structure which carries the organization enabling the group to fulfill the things they hope to accomplish.
an ethos (teal circle) which defines them by describing who they are, what they value, and where they will focus themselves. It’s the belief system put in place to guide them.
their practices (white circle) through which those who are a part of the organization will interact with the beliefs and paradigm. These are the things we do to carry out the stuff we believe and the structure we are built upon.
It’s pretty exciting stuff, isn’t it?
Can’t wait to share how this is influencing our new church startup, Mission 614.
